Baron Knyphausen

Adir

The Baron Knyphausen Wine Estate was founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks from the nearby Eberbach monastery. The Knyphausen family acquired the property in 1818 and continued the tradition of fine wine making. In 2010 Baron Knyphausen concluded a partnership with the Grapevault Wine Fund No. 1 to advance international expansion and to become one of the leading wineries worldwide. The appointment of the Managing Director of Grapevault, Dr. Wolfgang E. Frank, as Managing Director of the winery, expresses Grapevault’s philosophy to act not only as a financial investor, but to have substantial influence on the operational side of the business. The Baron Knyphausen Wine Estate owns  many famous single parcels like Erbacher Marcobrunn, Erbacher Siegelsberg, Erbacher Hohenrain und Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen to name a few. The winery focuses on Riesling, producing it in all styles (dry, off-dry, sweet, noble sweet), but has also Pinot Noir and other autochthon grape varieties like Roter Riesling in its portfolio. The Baron Knyphausen Wine Estate is member of the VDP since 1972 and a founding member of the Charta union. The annual production amounts to 100,000 bottles.
